My kids have a Step2 Lifestyle Dream Kitchen which came with a few pots, pans, and utensils, not to mention the various random spatulas, knifes, ladles and other such items we have amassed from the numerous food play sets I've purchased for them (Learning Resources New Sprouts, Melissa & Doug and Plan Toys) However, while they do have a Green Toys tea set, they didn't have a tea kettle that you put on a stove to "boil" and when I saw one in this set, and also saw that it was made by Learning Resources which we love, I couldn't pass it up for the $12.19 it was listed at when I ordered it!I also thought my son (4.5) in particular would appreciate the potato masher because we don't have one of those and he likes mine, and what's another pot and pan and a few more utensils? Kids love those!Well, I'm so glad I got it because my kids love ALL of the pieces in the set. I love that the pot and pan are larger than the ones that came with our Step2 Kitchen, because they can fit more in the pot while "making a soup" for instance, yet it is pretty much to scale with our Step2 kitchen and still fits well enough on the burner, and they also just like to play with it on the floor. The lids fit perfectly and are interchangeable between the pot and pan -- I saw a few reviews where people said the lids didn't fit, and highly suggest contacting Amazon Customer Service for a replacement if that's the case with your set, because they should! Amazon is REALLY great about returns/replacements, even if the deadline for doing so has passed they will usually give an "exception" so it's always worth a try!We have a couple of Learning Resources New Sprouts play food baskets (breakfast and dinner) and also the Learning Resources Farmers Market Color Sorting Set, and the pot and pan can fit the scale of these foods perfectly! It may seem like a given since they're the same brand, but I've learned that it's not always the case! See the pictures I included for reference. As predicted, my son really liked the potato masher, and it also came with an ice cream scoop and a slotted spoon which we didn't have, a spatula and a knife, all of which my kids really like and are actually using in their play kitchen. Finally, the tea kettle was a hit and also fits perfectly on the Step2 kitchen stove and my kids have loved pretending to make tea and serve it to me! Such a great set for a great price, and I'm really glad I got it for all of the included items. The neutral color scheme is awesome too, so many kitchen and home themed imaginary play items for kids are geared towards girls with their color schemes, but it's an important developmental part of learning and play for all children regardless of whether they are a boy or a girl, so I love when I find neutral colored items like this! This would make a great starter set for any kid from about a year on up who likes to play with pots/pans/utensils and to have something to put their play food in, or as an addition to expand the items in a play kitchen like we did! Both my 4.5 year old son and 19 month old daughter love and play with this set equally! Great, reasonably priced set with a good variety of interesting items for all ages and I highly recommended it. :)
